The Southern Ideal Home Show Showcases Best in Local Artists, Food and Drink

RALEIGH, N.C. – (March 6, 2017)The Southern Ideal Home Show, the Triangle’s largest home and garden event, is focusing on all of the local talent the region has to offer in its spring show, April 7-9 in Raleigh. The three-day showcase will be held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds and will feature more than 300 top area professionals in home and garden.

This spring’s show will mark the second edition of the Showcase of Local Artists, a feature in which Triangle-area artists will exhibit their paintings, sculpture, woodwork, pottery and other hand-crafted items.  Featured artists include: Clara Johnson, Katrina Brown, Randy Chapman, Diane Knesovich, Simone Barbe, Allen Montague, Seton McGlennon, Robyn Johnston, Mary Snowden and Mary Stella Cronberger. Held in the Exposition Center, show guests can shop and support the artists by taking home one-of-a-kind pieces.

In addition to the Showcase of Local Artists, the Southern Ideal Home Show is teaming up with local restaurants, breweries and wineries for the fifth edition of Brews and Bites, an event highlighting food and drinks from nearby businesses. Sip on some suds from North Carolina breweries and sample savory bites from local chefs in the Jim Graham Building.

Delicious tastings will be available all three days of the show as Triangle brew masters and top chefs rotate appearances and menu items. And best of all, there’s no additional cost: tastings are included with your admission ticket. Businesses providing samples during Brews and Bites include: Adams Vineyards, b. Good, Bond Brothers Beer, City Barbeque, Dame’s Chicken and Waffles, Fogwood Foods, Raleigh Brewing and Zoe’s Kitchen.

“There’s so much talent in this region and we always look for fun and unique ways to show it off,” said Debbie Ball, show manager for the Southern Ideal Home Show, Raleigh. “We’re thrilled to offer guests one-of-a-kind pieces from talented local artists and delicious food and drink from restaurants, breweries and wineries right in their own neighborhoods.”

In addition to homegrown fun, Dave and Kortney Wilson, co-hosts of HGTV’s Masters of Flip, will share their house-flipping and renovation secrets at the show in a presentation sponsored by New Homes and Ideas on Saturday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. Following the presentation, they will host a Meet and Greet session for fans to take pictures and get autographs.

Tickets are available online for $9 and at the door for $10, and children under 15 are free with a paying adult. Advance tickets are available at Walgreen’s locations throughout the Triangle beginning March 7 for a discounted price of $7. Friday is 55+ Day (tickets are $7 for anyone 55 and older) and Hero Day (free admission for active and former military, police, fire or EMT with valid identification). Parking is free and plentiful.
